Engine 5 First Due
WHEELING - A full response was sent to the 200 block of North Huron Street on Wheeling Island for a report of a structure fire in a basement around 0415 hours Tuesday morning. Engine 5 reported "smoke showing" on arrival. Crews advanced lines into the basement and brought the fire under control quickly. Crews found a room and contents fire with no extension. Companies made searches with negative results and ventilated the structure.

Garage Fire - South Huron St - Wheeling Island

Engine 5 First Due
WHEELING - A full response was dispatched to South Huron street on Wheeling Island for a report of a garage on fire. The garage was not attached to the house. Both Engine 5 and Rescue 1 reported "heavy smoke showing" while responding to the call. Engine 5 arrived on scene and took the hydrant. Fire crews found fire in the rear of the garage, towards the alley. Ladder 1 assisted with opening the garage while the crews knocked down the fire. The fire was out in less than 10 minutes. An Island resident, a "Good Sumaritan" made sure no cars ranover the hydrant supply line.
